What is VTOS?
The Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme is a daytime general education and work related training programme for adults. It offers you the chance to learn new skills in an environment suited to adults, to use your time productively, to make new friends, and to acquire valuable educational qualifications while still retaining your social welfare benefits. VTOS will help the participants make the transition back into paid employment or back to further education, eventually leading to employment.
Who is eligible?
An applicant for VTOS must be at least 21 years of age and getting one of a series of payments for at least six months (156 days).
Persons signing for credits for at least six months, and the Dependent Spouse of an eligible person are also eligible. More detailed information is available here.
